Principal's Message ![]() Welcome!Dear Hollydale Families,
Welcome to the 2012-13 school year at Hollydale! Our goal is to “Create a culture of rigor, achievement, and celebration in reading, writing, and math.” Our staff continues to provide quality instruction and meaningful learning opportunities in these areas in order for all students to succeed! We are fortunate to be a part of the Right Brain Initiative again this year, which brings artists in residence to each and every classroom. Our staff will be looking at more ways to integrate art into their instruction to bring learning to life for all kids! Watch for our work with the children's book Plant a Kiss, written by Amy Krouse Rosenthal and illustrated by Peter Reynolds. I will be reading this book to every class, kindergarten - 5th grade, this fall. This book is about life, kindness, and giving. My goal is for children to think about what we could "plant" to make Hollydale the best place it can be! Will it be acceptance, friendship, compassion, love, or care? Let's see what they come up with! Children's artwork will demonstrate their incredible thinking on this topic! We continue to strive to provide a safe, positive, and rigorous learning environment for all students. This year we will be looking at more ways to involve families and the community at Hollydale. We welcome you into our school and classrooms! If you have a question, concern, or just want to become more involved in our school, please call me at 503-661-6226. Working together we can make a difference in the lives of our children. Sincerely, Elaine Luckenbaugh, Principal, Hollydale Elementary School |
